The Artisans Haven – Significant progress

With just 30 online tenants when it was set up in March last year, The Artisans Haven has now 400 tenants whom it promotes through, among others, regular Facebook LIVE sessions.

It expects to sign up 1,000 tenants and achieve RM1 million in annual sales by end of next year.

Its website has hit an all-time view of 224,000 while its Facebook reach is now at 500,000 monthly with engagement of about 20%.

Marching ahead, The Artisans Haven is set to notch further progress and sale for its tenants, boosted by public support for its ‘Handmade is Heartmade’ products.

Community hubs come alive at The LINC KL

As trendy retail mall The LINC KL comes alive again upon economic reopening, its community projects are also regaining their shine.

More participation from the public is seen in its projects to support small businesses, artisans, single parents and artists; sales at the ‘Makan Local Food Cart’ operated by single mothers and small businesses has been improving by 20% since it resumed operations from the lockdown.

Meanwhile, the collection at textile recycling project Klothcares, is maintained at an average 500kg to 600kg of cloth per month.

The reading corner at The LINC KL, with more than 500 books donated by the community, has reopened since October 21, 2021.

The Tender Hearts project to help medically challenged children is expected to resume with the weekend bazaar and mall redemption program by November 21, 2021.

Under this project, the children are given free space in the weekends to cook and bake, and the management buys up the products and donates them to other places.

While taking part at the mega sales at The Artisans Haven, the public can appreciate the conservation efforts at The LINC KL, where the layout is built around 100-year-old weeping fig trees (ficus benjamina) with food hung in baskets for squirrels and other small animals.

To educate especially the young, on a sense of responsibility towards the environment, the Chrysalis ‘Adopt a Caterpillar and Host Plant’ was initiated at The LINC KL.

Chrysalis ‘Adopt a Caterpillar and Host Plant’ project

The Chrysalis Project team is discussing a possible collaboration with Beaconhouse Newland Early Years Ampang to develop a butterfly garden.

Thus far, the Chrysalis Project has made considerable progress in four areas:

  • Biodiversity; a series of programs has been created to help people understand the importance of bioversity, which is the interdependent relationships in an ecosystem.

As the biodiversity around The LINC KL is monitored and audited, the biodiversity checklist from November 2020 to October 2021 is available to team members to enable efficient collection of data.

  • Conservation; a safe haven called ‘The Nursery Butterfly Garden’ was created with plentiful supply of food and resources to encourage healthy development of the caterpillars and butterflies.

The Nursery is available for public viewing from the outside and is normally open when classes and programs are held.

New plants are added monthly, to showcase the biodiversity of pollinators during workshops.

  • Education; Young Entomologist Workshops are being  resumed on weekends under new norms, with additional daily workshops from 2-3pm.

Daily bookings are open via the Whatsapp hotline at +601163133788.

  • Research; the nature contingency plan called The Flying Flowers is a cross section of the Malaysian virgin rainforest at mid-elevation, mimicking butterfly habitats.

The star attraction of the Chrysalis Project, it has been successful in attracting new interest in the conservation of butterflies and other insects.

Your time at The LINC KL this weekend will be interesting and fun-filled with lots of activities, and a variety of restaurants, cuisines and shopping places to explore.

Do join in the excitement and show your support for artisans and small businesses at The Artisans Haven while enjoying the nature-inspired ambience at The LINC KL.
